FOGSTAR
SunClan | Leader |
48 moons | Tom |
appearance
upon first glance, anyone would be able to tell that the sunclan leader is not the most intimidating cat on the island. he has narrow shoulders and haunches, and he always looks as if he could use some more prey. he isn’t sickly thin, but he is definintely skinnier than your average cat. an interesting feature bestowed upon the tom is his unusually long legs, that simply add to the gangly look. his legs are more or less proportionate to the rest of his body, and they taper off into lithe paws. the tom’s head is short, from crown to nose, and his face narrows at his maw. his ears are perched handsomely on his crown, and are narrow as well.
his pelt is coloured in a pallete of greys, varying in colour, and hue. he is predominately a slate gray, favouring the slighter shade. darker tones litter his body in the typical tabby fashion, though his legs are almost completely void from his shade of grey. his stomach is a lighter grey than the rest of his coat, and while there are tabby markings throughout it, they are hard to distinguish. his face has few markings, the most intense streaks in thick lines over the inside corners of his eyes. the toms pelt is relatively short in length, and silky smooth. he is very anal about keeping it clean, and he gets rather upset when his pelt is dirty. his eyes are lined on the lower lid with the lightest shade of grey on his whole body.
the toms eyes are almond shaped, and the colour of ochre. they are very guarded, and very rarely will his feelings be expressed in them. they are constantly moving and studying the world around him.

personality
**--meticulous
the young warrior has a way of doing things that would be considered tedious and time-consuming for those with short attention spans. he works through anything that might pose a problem in his brilliant mind, and once he has it figured out, then he will carry out what is needed of him. he has an eye for detail, such as the intricate designs upon the pelts of his clanmates, or the slightest of changes in air temperature. fogstar has a method to choosing which fresh-kill piece to take for himself, something that can drive others mad as he sits and picks through the corpses until one suits his taste. it isn't just in his actions that the tom is meticulous; he is also very cautious with his words. his greatest fear is not thinking something through before he says it and then having to suffer the consequences. that's not to say that the tom is the perfect linguist, he has his slip ups like everyone else, and will apologize for anything that may, or may not have been taken in the proper context.
**--strong
fogstar may not have a lot of physical strength, but his ability to handle hard ships and pain indicates a very strong mental capacity for things that would usually cripple others. he has been through his fair share of grief, from witnessing the death of his sister at a young age, to standing by his fellow warriors as they breathed their last breath. fogstar has an uncanny ability to hold it together through almost anything that might be thrown at him. he is the kind of friend you want by your side in times of great emotional distress, as he will sit their stoic, and let you put all your burdens on his shoulders. he holds no ill will against those who have taken their anger out on him verbally. he understands better than most that sometimes you just need to yell at someone until all the pain has gone away. the tom does have moments of weakness, but he makes a point of being on his own. he would rather suffer quietly, than to put his pain on someone else.
**--quiet
as silent as the clouds from which he was named, the leader only speaks when he feels the need to. these instances include being asked a direct question, offering his opinion, or while consoling another cat. he doesn't like to hear the sound of his own voice, and lives by the motto "you should listen twice as much as you speak". while this can prove to be quite frustrating for those trying to argue with him, it has benefited him greatly as a warrior. he has witnessed many a time when a warriors words has gotten them into trouble, and trouble is not where he likes to be. ever since he was a kit, the tom hardly made very much noise, and it did not improve as he got older. when he does speak, he is always extremely calm and collected, the inflection in his voice carefully planned in his head. he hates offended others, as he had done in the past.
**--passionate
everything that the warrior does is done with a great sense of pride and accomplishment. he takes his warrior duties seriously, and he is passionate about the warrior code and everything that it has to offer him, and the rest of sunclan. the toms greatest passion in life is helping others, and while he can't help everyone, he takes those who bring their problems to him with a great deal of confidentiality. he does not see the point in spilling other cats' secrets, nor would he gain anything from it. fogstar puts his heart and soul into the hunt, as he loves the thrill of hunting and the instant satisfaction of a successful kill. this is also shown in times of great moral dilemmas among his clanmates, as he is very passionate about whatever he says, and his opinions.
**--intelligent
fogstar wields a great deal of brain power with that beautifully shaped head of his. his memory is astounding, and his way of looking at things has helped him in many sticky situations that probably should've ended in his death. he has a knack for catching onto complex concepts quickly, and while this can prove to be quite troublesome, he always seems to find a way around it. with his intelligence, comes a great air of superiority over those around him. he knows he is smart, and while he doesn't always speak what is on his mind, he does get a rather smug look on his face when he knows the answer to someone that others might not. sometimes he is really quite good at hiding his feelings of superiority and other times he is not.
**--narrow-minded
for all of the pale grey toms' good qualities, he suffers from one major tragic flaw. the tom has a very hard time expanding his mind to new concepts, and anything that is outside of the norm. he views the world in one way and one way only: you're born, you train, you die, you join starclan. anything else is unnatural and should be shunned entirely. he doesn't like the prospect of new cats entering the clan from circumstances other than birth, and he is not afraid to show his disapproval of kitty-pets or loners who try to join their ranks. he believes that the warrior code is the only code that should be followed, and that those within the clans should follow it to the death. fogstar does not see himself as narrow-minded; simply set in his own ways, and sticking to the tradition and laws laid down for the clans by the original leaders.

background
on a chilly morning early in new-leaf, fog rolled in off the ocean and coated the land in a dense cloud. yowls split the silence of dawn, and after a few moments the yowling ceased, and the soft mewls of a single kit bounced off the nursery walls. the dark grey she-cat purred as she started to clean her lone kit, and deemed him fogkit for the light gray colour of his pelt and the fog rolling over the camp.
it was discovered rather shortly that fogkit had not gained any of his fathers size, seeming to strictly take after his mother who had always been rather dainty. cats also noticed that he didn’t speak a whole lot, and when he did, he generally had something interesting to say, or to simply get clarification one something that he didn’t understand. he wasn’t the most ambitious kit, and opted to stay within the nursery rather than go out into the clan and explore what the world had to offer. he saw the other kits in the den doing it only to get scolded by their mothers. while he didn’t talk a lot, he always seemed to be observing the going ons.
at six moons, he was made an apprentice and his mentor, crowclaw, was an senior warrior with a bad attitude. he was constantly in a foul mood and took it out on fogpaw. for the first two moons of his training, fogpaw would snap back at him to try and get him to stop, but soon came to the realization that it wasn’t going to get him anywhere. he deduced that by giving crowclaw a reaction, he was letting the warrior win. so after a moon and a half of arguments, fogpaw dismissed his mentors bad attitude and focused on his training. his lack of interest in what the mentor had to say about his abilities as an apprentice, angered crowclaw. this caused a confrontation in the middle of the camp that reduced fogpaw to tears. the other cats took pity on him, and crowclaw got an earful from the leader about the way he was treating his apprentice.
the training sessions after that were filled with tension, and fogpaw made a vow to himself to never let himself get beaten down like that again. as his apprentice training came to an end, fogpaw had developed a back bone, and a thick skin to take what was thrown at him, and deal with it with a level head.
it wasn’t lost on the leader, nor his mentor that though fogpaw didn’t show a lot of emotion, he had a big heart. it wasn’t really demonstrated on a basis that most cats would notice, but it was definitely there, and when it was time for his naming ceremony, he was given the suffix of heart due to his compassionate nature.
his warriorhood wasn’t anything special. he did what was needed of him, when it was needed of him. he pulled his weight, determined to show that he could do anything that other cats could do, despite the fact that he was smaller than the majority of the other warriors in the clan. when he got his first apprentice, he was so proud that there was actually emotion expressed in his eyes. his apprentice was a loud, obnoxious and know-it-all little brat and this was really the turning point in fogheart’s life. the she-kit, he found out, was really self-conscious about herself and was scared that she would never make it as a warrior and be successful. fogheart did his best to assure her that she would do just fine, and as she grew into a smart, young cat, he knew that he was right. she was no longer loud, or obnoxious, she had found peace within herself and knew that she would be a great warrior.
due to unforeseen circumstances surrounding the deputy, a new one was named, and that cat was fogheart. he was shocked, but not displeased with his position, and the honour that surrounded it. he took his deputy duties very seriously, and he was very methodical when it came to choosing which cats would go on patrols, and which ones wouldn’t. he made a point of distributing the duties evenly to make sure that no one felt singled out or overencumbered by the responsibilities they had as warriors. he was deputy until he was forty-seven moons. an unknown predator took the leaders last life, sending him home to starclan, and so fogheart received his leader name.
since he is still coming into his role as leader, he has been having his doubts about whether he his cut out for leadership.
