appearance
Give a quick description of your character's appearance. You have a picture, so this doesn't have to be terribly in-depth. Just describe the coat color along with any unusual markings, and length, as well as your characters body type. Is he or she lean or thick with muscle? Also describe the eye color here. Just those few sentences there was 54 words, so I expect you to have around 50 words or more in this area. It shouldn't be too hard!
personality
Neptune has spent much of his life the only cat surrounded by Twolegs, so it's often a little hard for him to be around other cats. He tends to do good with kits and more docile cats, but anyone that might be a "threat" puts him automatically on the defensive. When he is sociable, he enjoys talking about his life on the sea. He enjoys other cats with a good story to tell, but only if it's exciting: he's lived too long to pretend to care about the thorn you got in your paw yesterday.
Spending his days bossing around Twolegs has made him a bit, well, bossy. He's not afraid in the slightest to tell other cats what to do. Luckily, ignoring him tends to garner an exasperated sigh at worst and often no real response. He's also not opposed to taking orders, as long as they come from someone higher up the food chain and not from some headstrong youngster.
Though it doesn't always come across in his speech, Neptune values loyalty and will stand by any cat who earns his. He's protective of those that he cares for and although it often causes his bossiness to come through in the worst way, it comes from a place of love and worry.

background
Vera didn't bother to name her kits. Lost in the crowd of the dozens of other litters at the pound, she knew the Twolegs would come up with their own names. And they did, though Pounce, Bonnie, Dodger, and Gizmo were often lost in the sea of other little ones flooding the shelter during kitten season.
When it came time for adoption, they found themselves in their own cage alongside the other cats seeking homes. There they first heard the stories of cats who hadn't been born at the pound; some despised Twolegs that had neglected them while others longed for a home once more. Dodger was curious about life on the outside, but the stories made him wary and he slunk away from any Twolegs that came to look at them. His fearful nature made him the last of his litter left with even his mother finding a new home.
While at the pound, he came down with an illness that spread through much of the cat population. Though many cats were put down, one worker took pity on Dodger and adopted him. The young and strong cat healed quickly in the new environment and grew to love his Twoleg immensely. Though she worked during the day, she allowed him to roam outside in her absence. He chased birds, talked to other cats, and became confident in himself. The shy scrap of fur he had been was gone.
After a little over a year together, his Twoleg started to have trouble and couldn't keep him any longer. She tried everywhere, but no one wanted a grown cat. Finally she talked to her brother, a sailor, who agreed to take him.
The sailor meant to give the cat to his family, but Dodger disliked the poking and prodding of the Twoleg kits and the adult Twoleg keeping him confined. One day he was accidentally zipped into a duffel bag and, when it opened, found himself onboard a ship. Instead of fleeing back to the shore, he found he liked the salty air and the constant rocking beneath his paws. Astonished by the cat's seafaring nature, the crew let him stay and renamed him Neptune.
Neptune quickly developed a routine, He roused sailors who slept in, supervised the hauling in of the fishing nets (occasionally testing a sample of the catch if no one was paying attention), and guarded the ship when it was ashore. Though the job kept the crew too busy to fawn over him much, he preferred only the occasional pat on the head or nap on someone's bed.
Over the years the ships changed, but Neptune's job was similar at each. Some tried to find him a "friend," but they found that Nepture didn't take to having other cats around and most left bleeding. The first cat her ever came to like was a she-cat around the docks named Cora. She was a beautiful calico who knew every boat in the port. They fell in love and every time his ship docked Neptune disappeared with her until they took off again.
The first time Cora didn't meet his boat at the dock, he rushed to her owner's office to find her with her were two young kits. She tried to apologize, to tell him she still loved him, but he stopped her. The Cutter refused him kits long ago, but he loved these little ones on sight. Cora offered him the honor of naming them and he did: Tide and Wave. Though he was often gone, the two looked up to him as a sort of hero almost as mythical as the god he was named after.
But Neptune's crew disbanded and he changed boats to one that didn't normally dock in that harbor. He spent a final night with Cora and wished mate and kits good-bye.
There have been other loves since then, all come and gone with the tides. None manged to separate Neptune from where his heart truly was. Even has he approached old age, he still charted his course by the stars and helped reel in every catch.
Very recently, he transferred to a new vessel that just started venturing into waters rarely traveled. The route was supposedly prone to perilous storms, but to fish without competition would surely allow them to bring back a catch worth the hassle. Neptune boarded with the rest of the crew, but he refused to settle. He paced the deck almost the entire way, watching the skies. His Twoleg knew it was a sure sign of a storm, but the skies looked good and the captain waved him off.
But the skies changed quickly. The water rose up and into the boat as the wind battered it like a toy. Neptune stayed below decks, but soon found water licking at his fur. They were sinking! He scurried to higher ground and eventually ran onto the deck. There the wind and water tugged at his fur as the ship tilted perilously. The sound of the bottom being torn against a rock was the last Neptune heard before a piece of wood hit him and he toppled into the sea. Though able to swim, he was knew he would quickly tire in the waves and clung instead to the wood. By some grace the plank was pulled towards a nearby shore along with a few other articles from the wreckage. Neptune has spent the last few days recovering his ordeal, but he hopes to leave the beach soon and seek out the nearest Twolegs in hopes of finding a way back to his Twoleg or at least a boat.
