Starlingstar emerged from the leaders den out into the camp, and stretched her long legs out in front of her. The night had been chilly and she was thankful to be out into the sunlight now. Though leafbare was over, it's frosty tendrils could still be felt in the air. Fortunately prey was already being sighted more often, and although the fresh-kill pile wasn't quite as full as she'd like, it was already more full than it had been most of this past season.
She licked one paw and used it to smooth the fur on her forehead before padding over to the fresh-kill pile. She took a sniff before she decided she wasn't really hungry; she would save it for the rest of the clan and perhaps pick up something to eat later. Instead she sat back to watch the other cats, most of whom were just waking up like her.

[Aspenleaf][Smallwhisker] "Good morning, Starlingstar."
Aspenleaf sauntered through the camp, taking pauses here and there to stretch out her long limbs after waking up. The long-haired calico shook out her fur, allowing the fluff to greet the Newleaf air.
She gave her leader a tired smile as she caught up to Starlingstar. "Lovely morning, isn't it?"
"It would be if everyone else was awake." Smallwhisker appeared (from where, Aspenleaf wasn't sure -- the little warrior was always sneaking around) on the other side of Starlingstar. Smallwhisker gave the leader a quick head bow of respect before grinning widely.
"Am I the only one who wakes up with the sun?" she asked.
Aspenleaf blinked. "Weren't you on the Dawn Patrol?"
"Irrelevent." Smallwhisker flicked her tail dismissively. She plopped herself down and glanced up at the other two felines. "So, what's on the agenda today?"

Starlingstar chuckled good naturedly at the two. "Good morning to the both of you!" She smiled. "It is a lovely morning, if not still a little too chilly for my taste. That will change soon, StarClan willing!" She turned her attention to Smallwhisker, and asked politely, "I trust the dawn patrol went well?" There hadn't been any border skirmishes in quite a few moons, but she would never let her guard down. The moment she did, she knew the other two Clans would come sneaking in and challenge her territory. And right now, while they were still skinny from leafbare, that was the last thing she wanted. Also, with newleaf rolling in, her biggest concern was badgers and foxes threatening her cats.
"As long as everything else is doing well, today our focus should be plumping up this fresh-kill pile. We should be able to do that easily in this good weather!"
