Doe
Rogue | N/A |
32 Moons | Female |
appearance
A very pale blue tabby with a thick collar of white and a white belly, it's easy to miss all but the darkest markings on her face at first glance. Much less easily missed are her blue eyes and, if you are her enemy, her long claws. Also to the detriment of her enemy is her musculature; Doe's blows pack a mean wallop and she's worked hard to build her strength. Though apparently short-haired, she grows a thick undercoat in the winter that allows her to thrive when other shorthairs might freeze. She has several scars from a life of fighting, but almost all are invisible under her pelt aside from a notched ear.
personality
You don't live long as a rogue without a streak of ruthlessness. Doe has blood on her paws and isn't afraid to add to it. Though at first she fought to defend herself, her aggression grew with her skill and she has no problem being the aggressor.
Most importantly, Doe does not fight for the thrill of it. Well, not often anyways. She will readily defend cats that she views as innocent and refuses to fight those who can't defend themselves. Of these individuals she easily becomes protective. She believes that cats should be free and is skeptical to the point of violence of any cat who says otherwise.
Doe presents herself as a cat with nothing to lose and nothing left to live for except her mission. This self is very much a mask. Doe yearns to be a mother once more and to raise her kits in safety. If that chance presented itself, Doe would give anything and turn her back on any cat.

Strong sense of justice | Uncaring of cats she doesn't believe "need" her
background
Doe and her brothers, Ant and Nip, were born on Rogue Island. Though food was scarce, their father was a stubborn hunter and kept the family alive. Even Ant, tiny runt as he was, thrived. In the safety of the den their mother told them stories, of which the most popular was that of the Clans. How some cats joined together a drove out all those who refused to follow their orders. Those stories spawned many games where the villain, "Nipstar," would be defeated by the free cats Ant and Doe.
On their first hunting trip, Ant surprised them all by managing to catch a rabbit. Their father examined the catch in disbelief only to discover the rabbit had already been badly wounded. That cat that caused the wounds, furious that their prey had been "stolen," attacked without question. Their father ordered the kits to run, but they were cut off by a second attacker. The ragged tom grabbed Nip like a piece of prey and easily killed the little kit. He would have done the same to the other two had their mother not heard the racket and come to the rescue. Their parents triumphed, killing both attackers in revenge. Their father was badly injured, however, and died within the moon to an infection.
When they had grown, Doe and Ant left their mother and struck out for their own. It was a hard life fighting constantly over food, shelter, even petty insults, but Doe became a skilled fighter and acquired a good patch of land for the siblings. It was on that land that she met a tomcat badly injured by a fight with a fox. Doe couldn't bring herself to leave him and instead nursed him back to health. The stranger, whose name was Stone, fell in love with the cat who saved his life.
Sensing that he was becoming a third wheel, Ant decided to go his own way. Left alone, the two became mates and Doe found herself expecting kits. Stone became a fierce protector and excited father-to-be. When she went into labor and birthed four kits, two turned out to be stillborn. The others were tiny and too weak to make a sound. Over the next two days they died at her side. Doe was distraught, but Stone urged her to try again. After a couple of moons, Doe found herself hopeful and expectant once more.
This litter was smaller but stronger and consisted of two she-kits that squirmed and suckled enthusiastically. Brook and Hope seemed to have a bright future ahead of them until Stone failed to return from a hunting trip. Doe's worry eventually became so serious that she did her best to hide her den and left to find her mate. When she did, it was to realize he'd been killed on the hunt.
With no one to help, Doe took on the duty of hunting for her family. On one such trips, she returned to find that a fox had found her den. She tried to hunt the fox down, but was too exhausted to do far. The only thing she had the energy left to do was grieve.
Alone for the first time, Doe was lost. She left her territory and wandered to the coast. It was watching the shore where she was reminded of the stories of her own mother: stories of a path that occasionally appeared leading back to the vast, prey-rich island where the Clans lived. With nowhere else to turn, she clung to that story and decided to seek out other cats who would venture into the rich territories of the Clans and reclaim the land they were owed.
